RCT Stevedoring continues to invest purposefully in digitalisation as a lever for Operational Excellence, in line with our vision to deliver reliable, safe and transparent logistics services. With the implementation of a new Warehouse Management System (WMS), complemented by an integrated customer portal, we are strengthening step by step our process control, transparency and collaboration with customers.
This evolution closely aligns with our mission: to execute logistics operations in a controlled, predictable manner, with respect for people, goods and regulations. Digitalisation supports this ambition without losing sight of operational reality.
Digital support for core processes
The new WMS supports core activities in storage, handling and inventory management through one central system. Information is recorded consistently, processes are better structured, and manual handovers are reduced wherever possible.
This translates concretely into:
- higher reliability of operational data
- greater consistency in execution
- improved traceability of goods flows
This approach reflects our core values of craftsmanship, responsibility and quality: accurate registration and clear processes are essential for safe and efficient operations.
Through the linked customer portal, customers gain access to a clearly defined and secure online environment, where they can:
- consult their current stock levels
- monitor inbound and outbound movements based on registered transactions
- access relevant documents (such as quality inspections or damage reports)
- view reports to support operational and administrative follow-up
The visibility of information is deliberately aligned with what is relevant for the customer, while sensitive or internal data remains managed internally. In this way, we combine transparency with responsibility.
Greater focus on core activities
By granting customers direct access to up-to-date and consistent data, the number of manual queries and ad-hoc look-ups is reduced. This lowers the administrative workload for our teams and allows them to focus more strongly on the safe, correct and efficient execution of operations.
This shift supports our conviction that Operational Excellence starts on the company floor: employees should spend their time on core activities, not on repetitive administrative tasks.
The customer portal is web-based and requires no local installation. For customers with multiple goods flows or locations, information can be bundled into a single overview, simplifying follow-up.
Step-by-step expansion within a digital roadmap
The WMS forms a digital foundation on which RCT continues to build. Functionalities such as digital order input, pre-registrations or additional integrations will be rolled out in phases, each linked to:
- process maturity
- data quality
- internal control and governance
This digital approach ensures stability and reliability across our processes. We deliberately choose sustainable improvements over fast but fragile solutions.
A deliberate choice for sustainable improvement
With this step, RCT Stevedoring strengthens its organisation for the long term: more standardisation, improved data quality and more transparent collaboration with customers.
This project underlines our core values:
- Reliability – through accurate data, consistent registration and predictable execution
- Craftsmanship – through structured processes and craftsmanship on the shop floor
- Tailored service – by providing customers with targeted, relevant and secure access to their information
Kristof Buyst, General Manager at RCT Stevedoring:
“This WMS is not a standalone IT project, but an essential component of our digital strategy. By digitally supporting processes and structuring data correctly, we increase reliability, reduce errors and create a stronger foundation for collaboration with our customers.”
